I am an emerging educator finishing my certification at UVic as I come closer to becoming a part of the fascinating world of teaching. I value gentleness, community, hard-and-full listening. I am a 13th generation settler, a point that used to make me beam with pride, then shrink with shame, and now regard with a certainty that I can do more to lessen the impact of all my space. My budding teaching philosophy includes integrating Indigenous pedagogy into my teaching praxis as a way to encourage students’ care for their community and the land upon which they learn.  I aim to use storytelling and restorative practices in my classrooms, while emphasizing students’ agency through the use of inquiry and public pedagogy as meaningful teaching tools.
